OUR HISTORY – 35+ YEARS OF PASSION FOR 9-1-1

Founded over 35 years ago by industry trailblazer Sue Pivetta, addressing the national 9-1-1 workforce crisis. With a mission to enhance the quality of 9-1-1 training across the U.S. and Canada, Sue recognized a critical need for formal training in this specialized field when her own multi-jurisdictional communication center faced daunting hiring challenges—losing seven qualified staff members while hiring only five.

Prompted by a question during a dinner with friends about the absence of vocational training programs, Sue took decisive action. Collaborating with the dean of Renton Technical College and a dedicated advisory board of 9-1-1 professionals in the Seattle area, they pioneered the first vocational course for emergency communications in the country. This innovative program focuses on essential skills, utilizing a DACUM (Developing A Curriculum) process to identify ten core units of study integral to entry-level 9-1-1 training, laying the groundwork for both National Emergency Communications Certification (NECC) and the 911 Reality Call Taking and Radio Dispatch Simulator.

Today, this company has evolved into a robust team of skilled educators dedicated to developing comprehensive educational programs in high schools and colleges nationwide and Canada. Despite the ongoing hiring crisis in the 9-1-1 sector, the demand for trained professionals continues to rise, with collaborative efforts underway to create additional vocational pathways we encourage collaboration with local 9-1-1 agencies. Graduates from our programs, armed with critical skills and confidence, are ready to embark on rewarding careers in emergency communications from the age of 18, tapping into competitive wages and invaluable community service opportunities.

We believe that every community deserves a competent 9-1-1 team, and we strive to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring a brighter future for emergency response and public safety. For those interested in shaping their careers or those looking to hire qualified candidates, we invite you to explore current job openings in your state and download our educational resources to fully grasp the state of 9-1-1 today. Join us in transforming the landscape of emergency communications education.  Our mission is to serve 9-1-1 and career education by being available, being resourceful, creating products that are solid, software that is reliable and state of the art equipment.  We hope you join our mission.
